„GDYNIA PLAYS JAZZ”
Since decades Gdynia has belonged to the group of important places promoting jazz music in this part of Europe. Without a doubt a crucial matter in seizing this position was the close cooperation with the environment of musicians around the Tri-City and its seaside, harbour location. Music, same as tourism, cannot be limited by the administrative boundaries and exists best in welcoming and culturally open places.
Project “Gdynia Plays Jazz” enhances the latest history of Gdynia’s cultural development, including “musical Gdynia” in reference to the dynamic boom of interest for rock, jazz and blues theme in the city. Project represents a marketing-image character by presenting an attractive offer of Gdynia’s enthusiasts and jazz and blues scene founders environment.
Przemysław Dyakowski - a saxophonist of Cracow origins – is the substantive expert o the project. Being a leader of few jazz bands, living and loving Gdynia, he is one of the main founders of Gdynia’s musical affair with jazz.
We would like to work with all enthusiasts of jazz in the city, but also with such institutions as the Museum of Gdynia and Gdynia’s Cultural Centre.
